Activ ebook problem

crabman I have an ebook project with a lot of hyperlinks and photos. Activ is installed in my netbook (XP) and the ebook works fine there, as it does on my home computer with Vista. Windows 7 gives very inconsistent results: only about half the screen tips show up, and on most computers once you follow a hyperlink to a different part of the document, you can't get back. The back button just turns gray when you click on it, as does 'alt+left arrow'. If the Index is opened directly in Internet Explorer or Firefox, everything works fine.
Is there a known problem with Windows 7 and Activ, and if so, is there a patch for it?

april_thunder Hi! Whether we like it or not, the present version of the Activ E-Book Compiler is already quite old, and needs to be updated in order for it to keep pace with newer operating systems.  Whatever happened to the Version 5 we were all expecting a few years ago?

jkkd @crabman I also get error message using Windows 7. And as april_thunder said, it's already overdue for an update. I am not sure what happen to v5.0 also I am not sure if we can use v5.0 because V4 seems old software when used with Windows 7.

In reality, there are no better ebook maker than ebookCOmpiler. We just need to tell that the owner of the software so that he can listen his customers and just update the software. I am not sure what is holding him back. He as loyal customers, he has the copyright of the software.

Back to error: I am getting error relating the media.

I really want to see this software updated so that it can work with Windows 7 and beyond.

april thunder I'm still waiting (I don't know for how much longer, though) for that elusive Version 5.0.  With newer Windows operating systems catching on, and without an updated version of the Acti Ebook Compiler, even the most loyal user/customer base will eventually be forced to migrate to other compiler products. I have a digital product, and I can't release an updated version because I'm afraid that this won't be able to run properly on these newer Windows operating systems.  I do hope Sunil catches wind of these challenges facing us.  How many YEARS has it been?  Will Version 5 ever come out? Just asking.

april thunder But really... I do think that Activ Ebook Compiler is the best in the market... it's easy to use, and is packed with lots of nice features. It's too bad that its development has stagnated.

april thunder Oh, by the way, did you notice how many spam messages have gotten into this forum?  Are the administrators of this forum still active? Where are the members who used to post regularly here?  Calling Sunil, the creator of Activ EBook Compiler.  Can you give us an update as to what has been happening?

EBookCompiler I have a new baby so I haven't been watching the forum as closely as I should. I apologize.

Version 4.22 & version 5 both work fine on Windows 7.

I am keeping version 4.22 on the main ebookcompiler site since it is still the solid & proven version

Version 5 is still officially "beta" but if you want to go ahead and use it please go ahead - go towww.ebookfriends.com/500/  - password "version 500"

Also does the AEC work Ok with WIn 7?
Cheers, Tim
