I have a number of books which are rebrandable - with never a problem.
A reader today has told me that he has tried to rebrand a book it but it just gives the old information.
In such cases it often turns out that they are doing the wrong thing, but he seems he know what he's doing.
He says
" when I click on "view ebook" at the end of the branding process your original sponsor info is in the ebook and looks like all your original links are still there when I go to one of the sales sites outside of the ebook."
Is there any condition in which this can possibly happen ?

Not that I'm aware of
I'm not sure what whether you would get an error message (I think you probably would, but not certain) if the ebook EXE was write protected or otherwise unwriteable (for example if some antivirus software stopped it being edited or it was on a read only media)

I did in fact make the ebook read-only to see what would happen but it would not run.
I ended up doing the rebranding for this person so I guess we will never know.
