Stock Market eBook Legal Issues - help

»Stock Market eBook Legal Issues - help
richardv2 I have a great idea for a retirement planning/watch your investments ebook. I have many years studying the market as a student and investor, and applying my experience to my own investing.

What legal problems do I have other than the obvious problem with giving investment advice without being licensed? I plan to handle this by keeping the story in the "This is what I do..." "This is how it worked for me..." etc.

Do any with specific knowledge of the legal issues have any wisdom to share?

Storyman The advice you are given in a forum, regardless of the source, won't be of any help if you end up in court. Also, many attorneys are happy to give you advice of what they 'think' without a sound foundation.

First, I'd suggest you visit your local bookstore and look how others have handled the situation. Others like yourself have written such books.

If you are still unsure, the find a reputable Intellectual Rights Attorney. A good one will run $200-500 per hour, but if you phone you might catch one willing to spend five minutes on the phone with you for no fee.

I've known both Intellectual Rights Attorneys as well as other type of civil attorneys. From my experience civil attorneys are often misguided in their advice regarding intellectual rights.

EBookCompiler I think you need to ask an attorney if you want legal advice.  Sorry to put a dampener on things, but I'm not an attorney, as far as I know, there aren't any attorneys who post to this board, and even if there were, they're unlikely to give proper legal advice in a forum post.

I believe that Securities/Investment law is a specialist and complicated area, so you may wish to seek an attorney specializing in that particular area. Be also aware that securities/investment laws differ in different countries and jurisdictions, for example, I believe that some US states have their own state laws on these types of matters in addition to any federal laws.

But in conclusion, ask an attorney who is knowledge in the areas relating to your particular issues.

I am locking this thread, not because you've done anything improper (you haven't) but simply because I don't want unqualified people offering pseudo-legal advice.

...ask an attorney
