Can anyone recommend a Shopping Cart for ebook publisher. I started off with GoDaddy, but their Shopping Cart is not appropriate when product is to be downloaded and the online instructions are misleading.
I've just switched tohttp://www.2checkout.com/rates.htm. They appear to be ideal for software and ebook publishers. They handle both domestic and international orders. (GoDaddy wanted $600 more to handle the latter.)
I have just set up a new store. I use 3ix.com for my hosting site. It is only $3 a month for the ability to host 3 separate domain names and sites. Works for me. In the cPanel (control panel) look for the fantastico icon and you can see 3 shopping carts you can use. they have Zencart, OsCommerce and Cube Cart. Cube Cart is so easy to use for downloads. The other ones are a little more complicated. I wrote an ebook called "Setting Up and Running An Online Store" that describes everything you need to know about how to use these services. I am looking for testimonials at the moment and am willing to give out free copies of my book in exchange. If you would like one, you can email me.
Personally, I like using ZenCart which is free and very easy to setup. It includes all the known pay systems like PayPal, and the others. I use PayPal as it is very easy to setup for down loadable goods-ebooks. On my jewelry web site I prefer the Joomla-Virtumart e commerce setup as this is like the Catalac and rather hard to setup. OSCommerce is a free shopping cart and easy to install but you really need to know a lot about PHP to get the result your looking for. It also includes many different payment systems and features.
Now, if your only selling one e-book you'll need to market the heck out of it and cram it into every search engine you can find on the net along with making it SEO friendly. I haven't tried the system mentioned in one of the above posts, however looking at the features it seems like it may do just what your looking for.
Your best bet is to do some research, get a host that will allow you PHP and has tons of storage space. Use google adsense and just try some of the above systems until you get the one you like.
