Pictures for eBook

ğAnyone know where to get free public domain pics?

jmiguy Does anyone know of a good place to get free pictures to use in eBooks? (Especially of people)

I would like to include some pictures of people in my books but I have a limited budget and not too many friends who are models. :-)

EBookCompiler Be sure to check the Terms of Use for any pictures that you might use.  And if unsure contact the copyright holder for explicit permission or explanation.

For example, I bought 34 Gigs of art recently... The terms of use state I can use in my own documents and web sites and in products, but not in a way where users can re-use the images (which I imagine might cover resell rights)

JonniG You should also check out stock.xchng athttp://www.sxc.hu/home

Do look at the licence agreement, of course. I seem to recall that they have some limitations about using photos with people, but I can't remember the details.

jefftilt Most images that appear in WIKIPEDIA are available for use. Some have been released to the Public Domain and some requre attribution described under one of a couple of open-source type licenses.
