applying4ajob hi yes there are several ways you can promote your website.

you just have to keep in mind two things:

1) create compelling content that site visitors and search engines 'enjoy'

2) build inbound links to your site

infact it will be easy to promote your website, just keep track of these things:

-Build incoming links, get people to link to your web site

( you can do this via Amazon.com, BBC.com or Microsoft.com, a directory site like DMOZ.org , blogger directory like Bloglines.com , site with high Google Page Rank, best freebie site in the world thefreesite.com, or to an educational institute like Oxford University )

- Search engine optimization; use keywords and meta tags

(A good way of 'getting found' is to choose high-demand low-supply keywords like "free nokia ringtones", and to create pages optimised for those keywords. Obviously, you need to find keywords relevant to your website.)

-Pay per click advertising, google adwords, yahoo! search marketing

(There are literally hundreds of pay per click search engines available for you to spend your money. I suggest you only bother with the few I mention on this page to begin with. They provide guaranteed traffic and reduce so-called click-fraud )

-Viral Marketing

(Viral marketing is also known as word of mouth  marketing, and typically includes "tell a friend" schemes)

The classic example of viral marketing is Hotmail.com, one of the first free Web-based e-mail services. The strategy is simple:

Give away free e-mail addresses and services,
Attach a simple tag at the bottom of every free message sent out: "Get your private, free email athttp://www.hotmail.com"and,
Then stand back while people e-mail to their own network of friends and associates,
Who see the message,
Sign up for their own free e-mail service, and then
Propel the message still wider to their own ever-increasing circles of friends and associates.
Like tiny waves spreading ever farther from a single pebble dropped into a pond, a carefully designed viral marketing strategy ripples outward extremely rapidly.

-Promote! Promote! Promote!

(All websites or online businesses should operate a newsletter or mailing list, and HowIPromoteMyWebsite.com is no exception)

i wish you luck on your website! and hopefully come across it on one of the search engines soon!

Theplotthickens There are several ways to promote your website and to drive traffic to it. Content, layout and keywords are important. Also, backlinks from other relevant sites are very important. The sites that link to your web page have to be related to your subject matter. marketing and promoting are the keys. If you have a reasonable budget for this then buying banner space on other high ranking sites can be beneficial. I will look out for your site. It will be interesting to observe your progress.
