Keyword demand

 »What is the minimum?

DougN If you look at the number of searches made at Overture on a keyword phrase, what is the minimum thats worth marketing for? Would 200/month be the bottom line or would something searched only 30 times in a month be worth while to put up a web page for? Or does it still depend on the number of competing sites no matter what the demand for the keyword?

EBookCompiler it depends

if you're the only bidder on those 30 or 200 it might be worth it... if there are a bunch of other bidders and you're planning to be bottom of the list, then it might not.

if you have the account anyway for other purposes, there's no harm in trying regardless (but you'll have to make a judgement about whether it would be worth opening an account just for these keywords if they are relatively rare)

don't forget there are lots of variations of keyword phrases

for example:

if some people search for X Y Z (where X, Y, Z are your keywords)

other people (perhaps fewer) might search for X, Y, Z, X Y, X Z, Y X, Y Z, Z X, Z Y, X Z Y, Y X Z, Y Z X, Z X Y, Z Y X, etc. etc.

It's a good idea to get all the relevant combinations - which allowing for word orders, and omitting words which may not be critical to the meaning of the phrase, can be a lot of combinations.

You may find our Pay Per Click Galaxy program helpful in generating all these combinations:http://www.marketingrocket.com/prodgalaxy.php
