Firefox, Opera any non-IE support?

jaxz Dear all, I'm very new to this site. It looks like what i've been trying to find for weeks...

I run a web site where I'd like to sell ebooks that I write. BUT, many of my visitors prefer Firefox or Opera to the IE software.

I see that most ebook creators rely on IE 4+ being installed. Which ones do NOT require the reader to have any microsoft products installed? (Other than win-XP)

?

The cost for the software is not an issue, but I do need some rather strong security features.

I've seen the "ebookpro" (197USD) - it looked OK, but requires IE...

PDF (adobe acrobate) just doesn't seem to provide any reasonable security, but perhaps there are add-ons that might be useful? Don't know.

Hoping for feedback!
/Jaxz

Storyman jaxz,

Unfortunately, just about all of the ebook compilers depend on IE being installed. The user doesn't actually open IE, it's just that certain elements of it are used.

I'd suggest downloading the demo and making a small sample ebook that you can send to a few friends that use Opera/FireFox. Chances are they won't have a problem because few (very few) people uninstall IE from their system.

As far as the end user is concerned they won't even know that they are using IE.
