I have been using the ebookpro compiler for some months now and have found that for my purposes (publishing fiction to my website), this compiler has many security blips. First it was the security keys, now since I've downloaded the newer version, more problems -- this time in opening the compiled ebooks. Just thought you'd want to know before spending a good $90 on this program. Yes Michele is very helpful, but the program has become a major headache due to my needs and the many bugs so far. I will admit though it IS easy to operate from a software pov.
Thanks C.L. for letting me know about the bugs in the program. I haven't had a chance to test the newest version out since I have been busy with ebook reviews...
Your feedback is definitely appreciated and noted!
I read your reviews and found them quite good. I would mention one thing that you didn't (ain't hindsight great)!
I am about to publish my wife's cookbook, and one feature that Activ E-Book Compiler has appears to be unique. The "Find" feature allows a reader to look for a specific word on the page. I know they can do Ctrl-F to do that, but much of the target audience will likely not know that.
Am I wrong, or is Activ E-Book the only compiler with the ability to put a "Find" on the toolbar?
Mike, I exchanged emails with Eva over the last couple of days. I think she is having a little break from the computer, so it may be a while before she replies - I'm sure she will in due course though.
I don't know the answer for other compilers, so we'll have to await her reply.
I write fiction and use several different compilers to give my readers a wider choice of format.
Activ E-Book isn't the only compiler with the ability to search words. I know that Mobi Pocket allows "global" searches of an ebook--this is dependent upon the author/publisher creating the ebook in the correct manner though.
I also use ReaderWorks Publisher to create ebooks to be read using MS Reader. This reader allows searching, but it has a good many other features (like skip ahead by section) that I hardly use it. Again, I think searching is dependent upon proper ebook formatting by the publisher.
