Hey guys. I just purchased Hyprlock and Activ E-book, and I am currently going through the tutorials and messing with it. I had one question which isn't clear in the tutorial:
Is it possible to create a pdf file in "Try" mode? I have a pdf file, and would like to set about 9 pages of it in the beginning as the sample chapter.
Going through the tutorial, I can't figure out how to do it, since it doesn't have multiple files like an HTML ebook would, there is only 1 pdf file. Thanks! Dave
It is not be possible to protect some pages of a PDF file and unprotect other pages. What you need to do is create two PDF files.
The "unprotected" PDF file can be introduced as a "free" sample of the main PDF content. Then the main content would be password protected. Everything could be tied together with an introductory html page with links to the PDF files. This is exactly how the project "myProject_Try.aep" in the "Output" folder is constructed. Then you can package everything as a "zip" file.
Great thanks! I will do that...that's a great solution!
I had one other question...I was following the Hyprlock tutorial step-by-step, and when I got to the Activ E-book Activ Variables tab, it was empty (no variables in the variable list).
Is this supposed to be like this, or is it supposed to have the variables, mode, supportAddress, etc. like in the tutorial? ALso, should I add them manually with the Add Variable function?
Or is there maybe something that I didn't do right earlier when setting up the project?
Dave, you need to add the entries manually with the "Add Variables Function" or you can use one of the "turn key" Activ E-Book project files called "myProject_Try.aep" or "myProject_Buy.aep" included with HYPrLock as a basis for your project. Just add you own information as required.
BTW: This forum is for Activ E-Book user questions. Specific questions concerning the operation of HYPrLock should be directed to HYPrlock directly at hyprlock@goldpanner.ca
