E-Book Compiler Passwords Not Working?


 
BeadShark Hi,

We use and love my E-Book Compiler.

We use it to send out Beading Patterns and color charts.
This works great for my business.

The PROBLEM is that about 10% of the time when someone downloads a pattern (I call them E-Patterns) they try the password and it doesn't work.

We've tested and retested the patterns on my computer, and 2 other computers here in the office. We never have the problem, so it is hard to find and correct the problem.

After we have made sure that we have sent them the correct password, and that they copy and paste that password, in stead of just typing it in.

When it is still wrong, we don't know what to do at that point.

We've even had them delete it and redownload it and still have the same problem.

At first we thought it was just some peoples computers, but now we have had several people that purchase 4 or 5, E-Patterns and 1 or 2 of them work and the others don't.

We also have about another 5% of the people that end up with one that says corrupt file.

Sometimes this is corrected by redownloading it and sometimes it doesn't.

So you all have been doing these E-books for a while, do you have any trick of the trade that you can share with us!!

We love these doing and selling these E-Pattern 85% of the time and wish the other 15% of the time we could figure out why they aren't working.

Storyman Hi BeadShark,

Have them first to diable their fire wall, then open the ebook. More than likely that is the problem.

If that doesn't solve their problem have them hold down the control key while opening the ebook.

Still no luck? Have them to also disable the popup blocker, then try.

Let us know what happens.

BeadShark Hi Storyman,

Thank you so much for that info. I tried truning on the firewall on one of the other computers and sure enough it said incorrect password, when I entered the correct one.
So that solves that problem!
What does holding down the Ctrl key do?
And What is the most likely cause of the Corrupt file replay.
Thanks so much for the info you have given me, it is so much easier for me to explain it to customers if I have a concept of the problem.

Storyman Hi BeadShark,

The CTRL key (on some computers) temporarily disables pop-up blockers. As far as the Corrupt file replay, I have no idea.
