Version 5 and up

april thunder Hi, everybody! I've been away for quite a while, and would like to get an update on Version 5.xx of the Activ Ebook Compiler.

Is a "final"  version/update already available for actual use?
If so, where can I download it?

Storyman Hi April Thunder,

According to the download web site the official version is 4.22 (http://www.ebookcompiler.com/download.html)

This is a link to the thread about version 5. Includes download info. http://www.ebookfriends.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/topic.cgi?forum=1&topic=624

april thunder Thanks for swift reply, Storyman!

Yes, I actually downloaded version 5.05 some months ago. I like the new commands they've added, particularly the ability to do hash values on character strings. I don't want  to sound over-eager, but I was just wondering  how much longer it will take them to produce the  stable release of Version 5.xx

I'm about to come  out with a new version of my ebook, and I'm looking forward to compiling it with this upated version. If it's going to take two months or more, then I guess I'm better off using Version 4.22 for now.

Ciao!
April Thunder

Storyman No one can say. I don't recall seeing anything on the site that says that you shouldn't release an ebook using 5.05. If you've seen otherwise please post the link.

april thunder Hi, Storyman! Here's a webpage that says we shouldn't sell ebooks that we've compiled with the Version 5.05 compiler (unless we have written consent, that is)

Best regards,
April Thunder

Storyman Hi April Thunder,

Yes. I was wondering if you had contacted Sunil for permission.

april thunder No, Storyman. I haven't tried asking Sunil yet. But I guess that's the next logical step I have to take....  thanks for the advice.

EBookCompiler Hi all

Here is the update on verson 5 status

I am still working on it. I expect one or two more betas

I have had tons of useful feedback from lots of people on the v5 betas, and would welcome more.

As some of you know, I have moved house this year and had some other interruptions, but I'm getting there.

Thanks for the patience!

april thunder Thanks for the update, Sunil! I'll keep experimenting with the  present beta version, and I'll keep you posted on my findings.
