Just had a customer pay for and download an eBook. He claims that he can not open the .exe file. He advised that he is using Linux. Is there a problem? Is there a way to work around it? Thank you in advance for your comments
Active, like most ebook compilers, creates ebooks that work only with IE installed and on PC machines with windows installed. HINT: APS systems that are built into ebooks prevents this scenario because if they cannot open and operate the ebook it cannot be purchased.
Ask the buyer if he has a dual boot system w/ windows installed. If the sale is critcal, then you might consider supplying a PDF of the ebook. Otherwise you'll need to refund the purchase.
We only support Windows for both the ebooks and the compiler
On some Linux machines, there is Windows emulation software, called WINE. We have a customer has emailed me about his success in getting eBooks, Cover factory, and I think possibly the compiler to run under WINE.
So with Linux/WINE, it's possible it may work - but I can't promise it will work - and if it doesn't work you're on your own. Another issue to be aware of is there are multiple versions of Linux and WINE, and that could also be an issue.
