Regarding #2. By hardware-lock do you mean that the ebook will only work on that machine? If so, the answer is yes--with a caveat. There are 1,000 possible registration keys, which means that there is a .1% chance that any two machines will use the same registration key.
Regarding #3. According to the creator the APS will work with both versions.
