tatsumaki2000 Hello,
I downloaded a demo of the program and have been checking out different eBook creating softwares.

I heard this one was the best, but I have not had success.

I read thru many of the forums topics, and the help file.

I had been trying to create an eBook with many files, but after not being successful, I tried with ONE FILE.

I need help with that one too...

I put a file in the directory called index.htm

In the file is just:

< html >< head > < Title >Test Project < / title > < / head >
< body >
Hello World!
< / body >
< / html >

So, the file should just show Hello World.

So, I just want the ebook to say Hello World.

It compiles, and creates an exe file.  I run the EXE and it just shows the eBookCompiler splash screen and shut down. Nothing happens after that.

Please help.

Can someone write me a step-by-step guide from step one to compile.

Thank you.  If I can get it to work, everyone says this is best, I would definitely buy it, because so far I have been just sampling programs to test out.

I use WIN XP w/ SP 2.

Thank you.

[EDIT] I have tried the Activ Quick Project. It fills in the fields for me, but I still end up with an EXE that only shows the splash screen and quit...

Storyman Tatsumaki2000,

What you want is a file named "index.htm" in the directory that Activ creates named "source". In fact all of your ebook files, including JPG & GIF, need to be in this "source" folder.

You might also want to place some HTML tags around "Hello World!". Replace what you have with this:

<h1>Hello World!</h1>

Also change <Title> to <title>

tatsumaki2000 Hi, thanks for replying.

The <Title> was actually a typo in the message post here. it was <title>

I put a <h1> and </h1> around the hello world in the index.htm file

I placed the index.htm file in the project directory called source.

I changed the file location info under the FILES tab in the program.

I still get the same results.  It compiles fine, but it shows the splash screen for about 1/2 second, and then goes away, and then nothing. The exe file just auto-quits out.

Storyman Try this. Open window explorer and find your file. Right click on the file and from the menu select "Open with Internet Explorer". If you don't see "Welcome World!" in big letters there is something wrong with the file.

If it does work:

1) Make sure the file name is: index.htm

2) That the index.htm file is placed in the Source folder for the project you are creating.
