Troubleshooting HELP

10000mb I have the same problem as Neenah. I hit the build button, and it seems to build, but that is all. No error messages, or anything.

I run Windows 98. It worked for awhile, and then just stopped.

I tried to contact the webmaster@ebookcompiler.com 3x, but he has never responded to me. It used to work great. Now, nothing! Can someone please help? I have been trying to get help for over a month now.

Have they ever updated the software? Someone needs to -to correct this problem.

Regards,

I attempted to answer Neenah13 in that post.

Basically, you can try removing files until you succeed, or the reverse, start with a clean index page, and build on to it, a page at a time.

Beyond that, you need to see what's changed in your environment.

Maybe Sunil will have a more insightful answer for you. . .

darkskies I went right back to square 1. I tried to make an e-book using just 1 simple html page and still no luck. I don't think it can be any more simple than that. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong here? I have tried it on both ME as well as XP. The same results. It seems to build but when you go to run it. It starts then drops off to nothing.

A simple software should not be so hard to use. It is a shame since it looks like Active is an awesome e-book compiler if it worked. I like the features it has. I am sure many other people are having the same troubles here. The future of Active rides on problem solving. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Download this file and unzip it to it's own directory.

http://www.copperfieldpub.com/dev/ActivForm.zip

Delete or move the compiled ebook output that aleady exists, and see if you can create another.  Double-click on the .aep file to open Activ, and click compile.

If it doesn't compile, you have an install problem.

Have you followed Sunil's instructions about reinstalling after uninstalling and deleting the ANS2000.INI file?

Perhaps your download file is corrupt, or you're missing the proper permissions on that machine?  Do you have an alternate pc you can at least try the demo version on?

Whatever happens, don't despair.  Let us know what you find.

best -

EBookCompiler Sorry I missed this thread earlier

All email that we have received until the time of this post, upto and including today's, either has already been answered or will be answered in the next hour.

I am about to go on vacation, so may be slow with email for 2 weeks starting now. Sorry.

The most common cause of the compiler refusing to work at all is corruption in the installation, ANS2000.INI file etc. Nine times out of ten, this will fix it:

1. Uninstall the compiler
2. Delete ANS2000.INI
3. Reinstall

While I am not accusing anybody of anything, the most common cause for these types of corruption is using a crackz/warez/illegal-key generator, etc. All of which are illegal and a violation of our (Answers 2000 Limited) copyrights.

If you purchased the compiler and are getting these types of problems, email us with:-

1. Your full name (or name on credit card used to purchase)
2. The date of purchase, approximate if not known exactly
3. ClickBank receipt number for your purchase
4. If you are missing 2 or 3, include country, and if USA, state.

Because of my note about vacations, we may be slow in the short-term to responding to legitimate users who encounter problems of this type. For these folks, we'll try and find a way to make it up to them when I get back.
