Persistent Variable

ģIs it possible to save a variable within ebook

mike I would like to have a user enter data via a form and then save this to a variable.

I want this variable to be persistent - (ie. saved to be used in subsequent sessions of the ebook.

I have read suggestions for writing this data to an external text file or to an ini file. However this wont quite do the trick.....

I want the data saved to be specific to that particular copy of the ebook even if it is transferred to another PC.

My question - is it possible to save data into the compiled ebook itself rather than an external file?

EBookCompiler No you can't do that

I'm thinking maybe you could do something like

Make a series of ebooks using Build Series. Each has some variable which identifies which one of the series (this is the Help)

In the book you link to some script on your site to display this info.  One of the parameters of the script is the value of the variable.  The scripts looks up and says, aha variable = 7, there fore display this, variable = 32, therefore display that, etc.
