Retaining Subdirectory Folders

ztalk Hi,

Your assistance please . . . I need to compile an application that requires the existence of a subdirectory folder structure . . . however, Activ e-Book doesn't seem to accomodate that in it's default state.

Is there a way to configure the program to compile whilst retaining the original sub folder structure?

Thanks in anticipation.

Gary

EBookCompiler The current version doesn't support this. Hopefully we will add this in future.

If you would a free DOS utility which will flatten a folder structure and fix most/all the links (i..e. you could use it on a copy of your work, email to webmaster@ebookcompiler.com requesting it

brainsci Yes.

Create A second e-book from another folder, and embed it into the first one as an executable.

Creative e-books does not suport sub-directories, which is it's greatest flaw.  My source folder has over 500 files - I really wish they could be in sub-directories.

There are other e-book creators that will read from sub-directoies and parse the file paths.  They cost more, but if you project is complicated enough, it's worth the money.  I LOVE this program, but the honeymoon is over for me.  I'm going to keep looking for another proiogram, and I hope that the next version of e-book creator  will be the one I need.

However, the developers may have other things they think are more important.

'Till then, keep looking.

I know I will.

rlemire I agree, not being able to use multiple folders is Activ eBooks greatest fault. I like to be able to group files in seperate folders to keep them organized. One trick I've found helpfull is to add a numeral prefex to specific file types. For example: all of my .jpg files start with the number 1, .gif files start with 2 and .wav files start with 3 etc. (1firstimage.jgp, 1secondimage.jpg, 2first.gif, 2second.gif, 3sounda.wav, 3soundb.wav).

EBookCompiler I've been pretty busy for last few days so there is a slight back log. I am in the process of catching up now.

I am getting married next month (lot of arrangements), plus redoing my bathroom/kitchen,  so I am slow replying to email, but will reply to them all. If you don't get a reply by say Monday evening, email me again.
