I just received this question from a WebTV user...
[Start Message] I have been using webtv for better than three years and just now started the e book business. when I try to download one of the free books you offer, the webtv does not read the info. I am advertising on hundreds of webtv user discussion sites and wonder if they try to buy and download the info, it won't work for them. [End Message]
The books the user is talking about are made with Activ Ebook 4.22. I have absolutely no experience of WebTV at all and was wondering if any of you have any ideas, comments, suggestions on this.
I've never used WebTV, and I could be wrong about this, but I'm not even sure that WebTV runs Windows. I thought it run some other operating system and browser. In other words, I'd be surprised if WebTV runs any Windows software (ebooks or anything else)
One other thing... TVs have different screen resolution etc from PC's VGA. So another issue would be whether the screens, text etc would be readable on the TV screen. Regardless of the above, I know this issue applies to web sites, and if you make a web site to be able to read easily on WebTV, I understand it is a good idea to design a special version and/or check the display carefully.
If you find out the answer, post it, I'm sure some people might be interested - and that includes me!
How can you download anything on WebTV? I've used a simulator to check my web site, but I don't see how you could download anything. It's a TV, not a PC.
