Temporary files?

snowdog Since the program is based in IE, does it create the Temp files somewhere? does it cache the files?  Are they encrypted if it does? Thanks in advance for any info.

Alaska  SD -

In 2000 and XP, the ebook is extracted into a temporary directory under

C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\e\esbnnumberofebook\

Those files have the hidden attribute set, are prefixed with a '__enc_', and are indeed encrypted.

Image files are not encrypted, but can be given obscure filename extensions that can hinder discovery.

Because your book is already local, these decompiled, encrypted files are the only 'cache' storage that is needed.

Hope it helps...

best -

EBookCompiler Alaska's answer is basically correct for 4.22 (current version) with HTML Protection set to High Security (default setting)

If HTML Protection = Low Security or previous version is used the files are unencrypted

In previous versions, the folder name may differ
